Time to correct a mistake. When I chose buttons for my cardigan, my decision was made from what was available at one store and from misguided penny-pinching. I thought the yarn was so lovely that I could afford to compromise on the buttons, but I was wrong. The buttons look muddy on the sweater. So I ordered two styles of buttons from Black Water Abbey Yarns. The leaf shape buttons are actually a brighter silver than the round ones on the right. I am leaning towards the leaves. The lesson I learned is that the buttons are like jewelry for the knitting, so it is very important to choose the right ones.
I started this last Thursday....
The beginnings of an afghan knitted from leftover yarn. There are only 12 stitches on the needles. Combining the colors is alot of fun.

While I am a big fan of natural pearl buttons for almost every project [it's one of the reasons I loved the blouses at August Max Woman so much; they were properly spaced and harmonized so well with the silk], I agree that these leaf buttons are far and away the better choice. The round buttons are lovely, but still a compromise.

I think I'd definitely lean towards the leaf buttons, too! The afghan looks fun, I've been wanting to start some kind of blanket of my own... maybe in the new year. :0)
The leaf buttons are it! They are the perfect compliment to that yarn. Also, love the afghan! Are you making it up as you go along, or is it a pattern?
Dear Friend, you are so right, buttons are jewelry for for garment, I have the wxact same leaf buttons on a cardigan I made from a noro pattern. It was to be a pull over but turn into a shoulder buttoning cardigan. Anyway because of the angles and peaks in the pattern the were perfect. You made a beautiful garment and a great choice in buttons
